About me
“I have always believed, and I still believe, that whatever good or bad fortune may come our way we can always give it meaning and transform it into something of value.”
— Hermann Hesse
For more than two decades, I’ve followed the thread of the human story—listening deeply, writing truthfully, and building narratives that connect hearts and minds. From front-page features to intimate research profiles, my work is rooted in empathy and precision. Whether uncovering overlooked voices or translating complex science into clarity, I believe journalism is a form of architecture: story by story, we build understanding.

As a Houston-based journalist deeply immersed in the intersection of art, architecture, and urban identity, I bring a layered sensibility to storytelling that mirrors the work of artists like LaMonté French. From covering his abstract-expressionist exhibitions at ELLIO Fine Art—where French blends Creole heritage, collage, and social justice themes with striking visual immediacy—to exploring how self-taught creators and gallery spaces shape community dialogue, my writing connects the built environment with human experience. Whether profiling artists whose work deconstructs history or examining architectural spaces that reflect cultural change, I aim to trace how aesthetics and structure become vessels for voice, memory, and emergence in Houston’s evolving creative landscape.

Driven by a deep belief in the power of research to change lives, I approached Dr. Ben King’s work not merely as a data set, but as a story waiting to be heard. As a dedicated University of Houston researcher, King created a mortality analysis of Houston’s unhoused population which uncovered a quiet emergency. It was my responsibility to translate that urgency with care. By layering biomedical insight with real human voices and community context, I crafted a narrative that revealed both the failures and the possibilities within our outreach systems. The result was more than a feature; it was an invitation to reimagine how we respond to trauma with science, compassion, and action.

With a lens tuned to both nuance and discovery, my feature writing for PaperCity Magazine and Houston Chronicle explores the vibrant intersections of art, architecture, and cultural identity. Whether profiling emerging artists or chronicling the soul of a neighborhood, I strive to illuminate what lies beneath the surface—emotion, history, and vision. My stories are built on deep listening and immersive reporting, revealing the quiet elegance of a design, the rhythm of a creative process, or the human heart behind a gallery wall.
